Engagement rate calculator

By followers or by views, with the band your number falls into. No login.

Use averages over your last 10 to 30 posts, not your best one. Pulling the numbers from one viral post gives you a rate you can't repeat.

Engagement rate by followers

By followers—
By views—
Interactions per post—
Typical band on Instagram by followers: 1% to 5%. Brands and analytics tools mostly quote the by-followers number for this platform.
What this can't knowIt only knows the averages you type in. A rate from your five best posts is not your rate. The product computes engagement per post from your real post history and compares each post to your own median, so a 2.1% day and a 6% day are both visible.

How is engagement rate calculated?

Likes plus comments plus shares and saves, divided by followers or by views. Instagram brands quote the by-followers version; TikTok is usually quoted by views because view counts are public and follower counts matter less to distribution.

What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

Roughly 1% to 3% by followers is typical for accounts over ten thousand followers. Above 5% is strong. Small accounts run higher because a larger share of followers see each post.

What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?

By views, 3% to 7% is typical and above 12% is strong. The For You page shows posts to non-followers, so by-followers rates on TikTok swing wildly and mean less.

Why do analytics tools show different numbers?

They pick different denominators (followers, reach, impressions, views) and different interaction sets (some exclude saves). Compare rates only when both use the same formula.
